K2 Stone Quarries Inc. incorporated on November 19th 2003 in Nanaimo British Colombia Canada. Their primary asset consists of a 150 hectare mineral lease, and five adjoining 25 hectare mineral claims, held with the British Columbia Ministry of Energy and Mines; this quarry has come to be known as the Ocean Pearl Quarry. K2 Stone Quarries Inc. was purchased by Jack and Sid Whittaker in 2004, and expanded into a 5.1 acre industrial site at Duke Point in 2005. During that time they built and acquired primary manufacturing units to increase K2 Stone’s production capacity. All existing assets started in full production at the beginning of 2007.

The Newcastle Quarry was acquired shortly after; its geology holds a rich history of architectural wonder. Newcastle sandstone has been mined from Vancouver Island since the late 1800’s, its most famous installation can be found on the San Francisco Mint. K2 Stone is one of the few companies still quarrying this unique type of sandstone.

In search of a wider range of products K2 Stone purchased Stanton Stone in Kalispell Montana and took over operations on January 1st 2011. During this acquisition K2 Stone also purchased the Perma Gold Quarry which produces Autumn Gold, Autumn Flame and Echo Valley products.

Through a partnership with a local quarrier, Crown Isle Granite was added in late 2013, this product is a salt and pepper granite sourced from Vancouver Island, Canada.

In 2014 K2 Stone added Kettle Valley Stone and Montana Rockworks as suppliers to improve product offerings and regional availability of local products.

The Duke Point Production Facility continues to innovate the customization of Ocean Pearl, Newcastle and Crown Isle Granite product lines. K2 Stone continues its commitment of producing the highest quality environmentally sustainable products for the North American building industry.
