Newcastle Mitred Post Cap Description

Mitered Stone Post Caps are a masonry finishing product designed to provide a protective top surface for a post. Made from four separate pieces of stone, our mitered caps are cut at a 90 degree angle to accommodate a structural post at the centre. They typically overhang the post slightly to provide a drip edge for water to flow off the top surface, preventing moisture from permeating and possibly damaging the post structure. They serve an aesthetic purpose also, finishing edges for a polished, professional look.

K2 Stone's four-piece Newcastle sandstone post caps have a cut top, bottom and flamed sides and edges (flaming is a technique that adds a weathered texture to stone). All K2 Stone post caps are available in any size combination up to 24" x 24" and are a minimum of 2" thick.

Design Inspiration With Newcastle Mitred Post Cap

Learn More About Newcastle Mitred Post Cap

Natural stone construction or renovation projects around the exterior of any architectural style home may include posts or columns. They may form part of a retaining wall, or an overhang feature such as a porch or porte cochere at the front entrance. Using a Newcastle Mitred Post Cap can cleanly finish the point where stone treatment gives way to post, protecting the structure's integrity and creating clean lines.

This technique can be used for any transition or capping point where columns or posts are used. Whether it's around a front door or elsewhere around the property as part of a landscaping plan for outdoor rooms and patios with a pergola or overhand, using masonry accessory pieces like Newcastle post caps is advised.

Natural stone masonry treatments can add a lot of design value to both traditional and contemporary style homes, creating texture, coherence and warmth across exterior elevations. Finishing these treatments appropriately with specialized pieces will not only protect your investment, they'll signal a professional masonry job well done.
